For my Humans of Heritage project, I interviewed my debate teacher, Miss Ranmal.

Miss Ranmal explains the quote of the week in her classroom on Thursday afternoon of February 17th.

Throughout her childhood, Miss Ranmal moved to many different places causing her to change schools often. As a result, Miss Ranmal required consistent motivation from some influential teachers who eventually made a strong impact on the riveting confidence she exudes today.

“If it weren’t for those small moments with those teachers, I wouldn't have gained confidence. I think as I got older, in high school is when I realized the impact they're making on me. I want to be able to make that impact for other students who have struggled in ways that I did,” Miss Ranmal said.

Namely, instructors like Miss Ranmal’s AP Biology teacher and one of her college professors made a big difference in her life when they taught her the importance of striving and being vulnerable.

With respect to the valuable experience Miss Ranmal has shared, one piece of advice that she has indicated for every student as they pass through high school is to understand and work on confidence and capability.

“If you could work on anything during high school, make mistakes, and enjoy this time period of figuring out who you are, and it's okay for that to change… Just gain confidence in your capability to float through life, as weird as that sounds,” said Miss Ranmal.
